Where does the name Soplet come from?

Soplet comes from Semantic Oriented Programming, or SOP for short. But as SOP is already overloaded with many other meanings (Subject Oriented Programming, Standard Operations Procedure, Sons of the Patriots and so on) it was decided to create a new term, which would make it easy to distinguish and identify.

What do you mean by Semantic Oriented Programming anyway?

The principle of SOP is to put the knowleadge about a system at the center of the development and coding process. This knowleadge is represented by semantic structures (subject/predicate/object triplets), which can be referenced and interpreted by the implementing application code. In case of Soplets, these semantic structures are manifested by plain Java code constructs (enumeration/annotations), but there are also other variants, which use other mediums (XML, database etc.)

What are these coffee stains in the banner?

Good question. They come from a capuccino I made with my time-honored Pavoni espresso machine. The coffee blend is called Mäder Italy (80% arabica, 20% robusta), which I can very much recommend. I don't know if another blend would have created the same colors or patterns, but the taste is just without comparision!... ;)
